Dorchester Transport Action Group – open meeting interim report

Dorchester Transport Action Group – open meeting interim report

DTAG held their annual open meeting on Wednesday 18th June 2025 in The Corn Exchange Dorchester. This is a brief update on what took place and what will happen next.

Some 30 people attended, a mixture of DTAG members and local residents who are interested in improving how we all get round in Dorchester and the surrounding area.

The meeting was run as a workshop designed to generate and capture views about what the current transport issues are, and importantly what should be done to improve matters.

There was an amazing level of engagement with each group discussing issues and making a presentation towards the end of the session. Overall, there was a consensus on many issues surrounding walking, cycling, cars and public transport.

This is an important step as it will help DTAG formulate its priorities for targeting transport improvement campaigns in the coming year, knowing that these have a high level of public support. It will also provide a vital input to DTAG’s submission to the consultation on Dorset Council’s new local transport plan, known as LTP4.

So, what happens next? DTAG are collating all the output from the table discussions and presentations and will provide an analysis of what Dorchester people are saying on this issue. This will be made available on our website and on social media, but it is going to take a few weeks as there is a lot of material to analyse and sort into a logical order.
