Dorchester and beyond by train

Our friends at Purbeck and South Wessex Community Rail Partnerships have produced a great little video promoting the delights of Dorchester by train!

Journey planning & assistance

A small Damory bus passes Dorchester Shire Hall

MoreBus (Damory) provide bus services in and around Dorchester, including inter-town services and services into Purbeck and beyond.

Live travel updates from Dorset Council for unexpected disruption, congestion and incidents on roads and public transport; planned maintenance works on public transport; other travel alerts and warnings when reported. You can contact the public transport team below.

First Bus Wessex provides services around Dorset and South Somerset, including the busy No. 10 Bus from Dorchester to Weymouth, and the X51 and X53 from Dorchester through Martinstown to Bridport, Lyme Regis and Axminster station.

Great Western Railway runs trains from Weymouth up through Dorchester West station and onwards to Yeovil, Castle Cary, Bath Spa and Bristol.

South West Coaches operate the Dorchester to Yeovil service CR5. You can view the timetable here.

South Western Railway runs the line from London Waterloo through Dorchester South station, and on to Weymouth.

Both Google and Apple maps now include live public transport information and journey planning options. This is useful if you want to know walking times to and from bus stops and train stations, and so see more than one route option for your journey.

Any complaints about specific transport services should be addressed directly to the relevant operator using the contact details above.

DTAG cannot be involved in individual complaints.

DTAG's remit is the bigger picture for better transport, so it would only get involved if a wider issue were identified.
