Do you own an electric vehicle – or are you thinking about buying one – but don’t have a driveway? Dorset Council wants to hear from you.
The Council is expanding its network of residential on-street electric vehicle charging points so that people who rely on parking on the street can charge their vehicles close to home. This is an important step in making electric vehicles a practical option for more residents, helping to reduce emissions and improve local air quality.
Residents can suggest locations where new kerbside charge points are needed. Dorset Council will assess requests against a range of factors, including local demand, the suitability of the location, parking arrangements, pavement width, road safety and the availability of an electricity supply. Not every request will result in a charger being installed, but expressions of interest will help the Council identify where demand is greatest and plan future investment.
If your street could benefit from an on-street charging point, now is the time to make your voice heard. The more requests the Council receives from an area, the stronger the evidence that local residents need better charging facilities.
