Members of Dorchester Transport Action Group (DTAG) joined Dorchester Town Council in South Street today to talk to local people about transport in Dorchester and hear their views on the proposed 20mph speed limit across the town.
DTAG supports the Town Council’s proposal for a town-wide 20mph speed limit. We believe that lower traffic speeds can help make our streets safer and more pleasant for everyone, particularly people walking and cycling, children, older people and those with mobility difficulties.
Giles Watts, Chair of DTAG, said: “One of our priorities this year is to hear directly from people about their experiences and views on transport in Dorchester. Being out in South Street today has given us a great opportunity to talk to residents, explain more about what DTAG does and listen to what matters to them. We’ll be continuing this approach and will be at the Anonymous Festival in Borough Gardens on 31 August”.
There was considerable interest in the consultation, with residents stopping to discuss the proposals and share their views with the Town Council and DTAG.
The Town Council reports that more than 2,000 people have already completed its online survey, with a further 1,000 responses submitted on paper, either through forms delivered to residents or collected at pop-up consultation events.
The consultation closes on 7 September, so there is still time to have your say.
