DTAG supports Loders non-road route to Bradpole

Dorchester Transport Action Group (DTAG) fully supports the Loders Transport Group’s efforts to create a non-road walking and cycling route from Loders village to Bradpole. https://www.loderstransportgroup.co.uk

The current route along the narrow road is steep, has no pavement and several tight corners with low visibility due to high hedges that make it dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists of all ages but particularly for children.

A more direct route along the fields beside the river, potentially following the route of the old railway line makes enormous sense and would be a huge bonus for local people to be able to move safely between Loders and Bradpole and, from there, onwards to Bridport. This would have the added benefits of supporting active travel (with all the associated health benefits), encouraging low-carbon transport and reducing pollution.

We call on local councillors and landowners to facilitate this new route that would be so obviously of benefit to the whole community.

  1. Thanks for DTAG’s invaluable endorsement. Another benefit of encouraging ‘Active Travel’ is that it reduces our carbon footprint. Also, flat and direct route benefits the population of Bridport and Bradpole easing their access to the stunning west Dorset hills.
