Following on from the “Streets Alive” event Dorchester Transport Action Group organised in 2023, we have decided to run a fun cycle ride through the streets of Dorchester to highlight the benefits of active travel and the lack of suitable cycling infrastructure
The event will start and end from the Great Field in Poundbury on Sun 13th July and is intended to be for cyclists of all ages – we would especially encourage parents with their children.
It will be professionally run through the “Kidical Mass” scheme with qualified people leading the cycle ride and marshals at key points along the route.
The route itself will be no more than a couple of miles to the centre of town and back and we are hoping to start the afternoon with a lap around the Great Field for very young cyclists.
It will all start at 12.00noon and finish around 15.00. The plan is for a great atmosphere of fun. We will have some experts on tap to carry out basic safety tests on bikes and some stalls from prominent local cycling organisations. We will be inviting Keep106 to come along and broadcast live from the Great Field.
Please put this fun family event in your diaries and encourage your family, friends and neighbours to take part as well.
