On Saturday 4 October, Stewart Palmer, Chair Dorchester Transport Action Group, gave a rousing speech at the Dorchester town pump at the Protest against the huge development of 4000 houses proposed North of Dorchester.
Stewart pointed out this is primarily a car-led development that would bring further traffic chaos and congestion to Dorchester and surrounding areas.
A small (and very expensive) link road joining the A35 with the A37 would likely bring huge volumes of heavy traffic through the centre of the proposed new “garden community” without reducing traffic elsewhere.
The high cost would have to be paid for out of public funds or they would make the development unviable for affordable and social housing and meeting environmental targets
