Plans to reduce bus services in West Dorset have been withdrawn following criticism

After robust lobbying from users of the X51 and X53 services, local town councillors and both Dorchester Transport Action Group and the Western Area (Bridport/Lyme Regis) Transport Action Group, a decision has been made to reinstate the previous winter timetable.

Stewart Palmer, Chair of Dorchester Transport Action Group, said “Whilst this is good news, it should never have happened in the first place. There was no consultation with users of the local Transport Action Groups prior to their decision to cut the services. If there had been we would have pointed out the huge problems such a move would have made for users of these essential services. There needs to be a full investigation into how this came about”.
